About the Infrared Photographic Society (irps.org.uk)
Membership to the IRPS is open to all interested photographers.
Digital infrared photography has opened up a whole new world of imagery to both amateur and professional photographers. This fascinating medium allows us to record what the human eye cannot see, capturing near infrared (NIR) radiation wavelengths just beyond those of the deepest reds of the visible spectrum (700-900 nanometres).

The unmistakable characteristics of NIR are deep black skies, bright white foliage and that magical, sometimes eerie diffused glow. In fact, many scenes, which under normal lighting conditions maybe considered ordinary to some, are often transformed when captured in infrared.
The Infrared Photographic Society is part of the growing community on Flickr.com
The society is free to join and members are invited to submit their work to the group’s NIR image pool. The pool acts as a permanent, but changing exhibition of members work, showcasing the very best in NIR photography.
Infrared photography has given us the ability to record what the eye cannot see. As humans our eyes are sensitive to a limited band of wavelengths, between 400nanometres (the blue spectrum) and 700 nanometres (the red spectrum) known as visible light.
